When is The New Paper Big Walk?
Sept 2, from 7.45am till noon.

Are there any registration fee discounts?
Keep next Monday’s (Aug 6) Bingo card and trade it in at the registration booth to get $2 off.

Enjoy a package price of $72 if you sign up in a group of four.
Schools and companies who wish to register en bloc can e-mail tnp@sph.com.sg.

What do I get for my $20 registration fee?
You will receive goodies worth more than $700 in a unique folder of vouchers which you can redeem at your own convenience.

The Rendezvous Hotel discount vouchers can be used for meals at The Courtyard. Only one voucher can be used per visit.
Use your $5 lunch discount voucher to enjoy an order of Dory fish and chips at $12.80 (usual price is $17.80) or a raspberry chocolate dome at $1.50 (usual price is $6.50).

Why are there no physical goodie bags?
This year’s Big Walk is held in conjunction with the Singapore Environment Council’s Singapore G1 2012 event, which promotes green and healthy living. In line with the environmental theme, no plastic bags will be given out.

Where does it begin and end?
The walk begins at The Central, above Clarke Quay MRT Station, and ends with a carnival at the Marina Barrage.

How long is the route?
5km.

Will Big Walkers be walking together with the Singapore G1 walkathon participants?
No. Big Walkers will take a separate route from The Central and walk along the Singapore River towards the Marina Barrage. You will join the Singapore G1 participants only at the green carnival held at the Marina Barrage.

How will I be contributing to a social cause by joining the Big Walk?
Part of the proceeds from the event will go towards Project Helping Hands, a partnership between Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Lions Befrienders Service Association and The New Paper. The project aims to install wireless motion sensors in the homes of elderly people who live alone.

What should I wear to the Big Walk?
Every participant can claim a Denizen T-shirt. Wear this T-shirt to take part in exclusive lucky draws and games along the route and at the carnival.

When can I collect my free Big Walk T-shirt?
You can collect your T-shirts from Aug 25 to 29 (11am to 9pm) at the following Denizen boutiques:

Why not make a family day out of the Big Walk?
Schools and companies are welcome to field contingents for the Big Walk. Schools can register en bloc with a minimum of 50 participants, while companies can sign up with a minimum of 150 participants in a contingent to enjoy a discounted rate of $18 per participant.
