Having admitted to teaching an athlete how to use illegal steroids in the past, Singapore bodybuilding chief Rano Izhar has now come under fire from the Singapore Sports Council (SSC).

A statement from Abdul Rahman Hassan, director of the NSA partnership division, said the issue put Rano in "very poor light" and added that it brings into question his ability to lead the Singapore Bodybuilding & Fitness Federation (SBBF).

The SBBF's executive committee, however, has vowed that they would stand by Rano and not call for his resignation.

More in The New Paper on Wednesday (July 18).
