Two girls knocked down outside school

First came the screeching of tyres. Then, he heard a loud bang, followed by screams.
From his ninth-storey flat, Mr Ahmad Sarhan looked out and what he saw yesterday afternoon shocked him.
At the traffic light junction beside Christ Church Secondary School in Woodlands was a silver Nissan lorry. Several metres away, a girl sat on the road divider while another lay face-up in the middle of the road.
The girls were crossing the road when they were knocked down by the lorry.

why can't drivers of big &
why can't drivers of big & small vehicles exercise road courtesy by driving carefully, always on the lookout of pedestrians ! Isn't it a waste of precious time when accidents take place !
Today you knocked down somebody may not mean that your own family members will be knocked down by another demon drivers ! How would you feel if this happens to your loved ones or yourself ????
they should implement speed
they should implement speed limits at certain times near schools eg.after school dismissal.
In australia, the speed limit is 40Km/hr for about 500m stretch at school dismissal hour. Everyone is happy with that because it keeps the children safe.
Any motorist caught over the speed limit will be fined and heavily penalised. Another avenue to make $ for the sg government and make the streets safe for children :)

speed limit is useless at such places.
No one will respect the limit, PROVIDED you have a traffic cop stationed to keep an eye.
Once he/she is gone, the race starts promptly!
Speed hump is the only way to go ... it is a preventive measure. Motorists will come to respect the humps once they have tried speeding over once
If only the LTA, Town Council
If only the LTA, Town Council and the School concerned act together by building
distinctive road humps around the school this kind of accident will be history!
So, for god sake and for our future generation get on with it.
Make it miserable for motorists running at high speed. They have to slow down considerable else they will get their head bumped to the car ceiling.
Built these road bumps in such a way that at a certain max car speed, the flow will be smooth for the car driving over it, but will become uncomfortable if that speed exceeds. Believes me, Motorists will come to respect the bump!
