THE formation of the LionsXII has increased the competition for places in the national team.
That is the verdict of Aleksandar Duric, after the squad for the friendly against Azerbaijan and the dead rubber World Cup qualifier against Iraq was announced yesterday.
The Tampines striker lost his place in the team, but welcomed the intensified fight for places since the advent of LionsXII and their participation in the Malaysian Super League (MSL).
Said the 41-year-old: "No I'm not disappointed at all, so many people seem to think I would be but I think coach is right to give other players a chance.
"I'm not going to cry about it. I'll always support the Lions, whether I'm in the team or not. I'll be trying to watch the Iraq match on the Internet and support the team."
