1,000 taxi fare cheats reported this year

CLAD in office attire, the sweet-faced girl was in distress when three of her NETS cards did not work when she tried to pay for her cab fare.

But cab driver Mdm Chua Gek Hong, 60, trusted her "innocent" passenger to transfer the fare of $20 to her bank account at a later date.

Weeks have past, and she still has not received a single cent from the girl.

TNP learnt from cab companies that there have been about 1,000 reported cases of fare evasion this year.
