$19,000 in fines after $1 parking coupon offence

THEIR night out to rejoice over a business deal turned out to be one of the most expensive celebrations they would ever have – all because of a $1 parking coupon that had been tampered with.

A driver and his three friends ended up being fined a total of $19,000.

The offences: Using a tampered coupon and providing false information.

Mr Kelvin Leong Kwok Yin, 29, had used a parking coupon with its “used” tabs folded back instead of being torn off. He and his friends later claimed that a parking warden had demanded a bribe.
