After he fell at home, 84-year-old Chiu Cho Tak was taken by his daughter to the emergency department of Changi General Hospital (CGH).
Although his X-ray did not show any breaks, Mr Chiu was hospitalised. After two weeks of being shuttled in and out of the intensive care unit and the geriatric ward, Mr Chiu died from what was diagnosed to be a lung infection.
Mr Chiu’s daughter wrote in to The New Paper as she wanted to know how this could have happened and whether there was an over-treatment of her father’s condition.
A CGH spokesman said that throughout Mr Chiu's stay, its doctors had constantly kept his family informed about his condition.
