The 84-year-old granny suffered a massive heart attack last month, and her kidneys and liver are failing.
Yesterday, however, Madam Lee Chew Chang looked nothing like her frail self when she was warded in Singapore General Hospital earlier last month.
She was in high spirits as her wish to watch the National Day Parade was fulfilled, all thanks to her granddaughter, Ms Serene Gwee, 35.
Ms Gwee did not have tickets to the parade, so she splurged on a suite worth over $2,300 at the Ritz-Carlton Millenia hotel, which overlooked the NDP at The Float@Marina Bay.
Ms Gwee explained: “National Day is significant for my grandmother as she has a great love for our country."
Madam Lee was even happier when she saw ex-prime minister Mr Lee Kuan Yew at the parade.
She said: “This year, I had a panoramic view of the parade and got to see him on TV.”
