It’s a well-intentioned alert system, but it has irritated some residents.
Some residents of the blocks along Sin Ming Avenue facing Bishan Park have complained that sirens from the park go off sometimes when they are asleep at night.
These sirens are part of a comprehensive river monitoring and warning system at the new naturalised Kallang River in the park.
But one resident who lives nearby, Ms Tan Beng Chiak, who is in her 40s, said that sometimes, the sirens went off in the dead of the night, at 3am or 4am.
She added: “It’s a wonderful initiative to convert a canal into a river. But the sounds are very loud."
PUB said that it acted upon feedback received from residents.
