Khairul Amri made his long-awaited LionsXII debut last night in a friendly match with Johor FA at the Larkin Stadium, which the LionsXII won 4-3.

The 27-year-old had been out of action for 11 months after a serious knee injury.

He didn't score after coming on as a substitute for 25 minutes, but coming through unscathed on his LionsXII debut mattered more.

For the record, the LionsXII scored through defender Abdil Qayyim, also making his debut, Agu Casmir (two) and Shahdan Sulaiman. They led 4-2 at half-time but struggled after Agu and Isa Halim were taken off at half-time and were lucky to hang on to the win.

More in The New Paper on Sunday (April 29).
