The fears were real.
In Wayne Rooney’s absence, England’s attack were thought to be too inexperienced and lightweight, impotent even.
Yet, as Rooney laces his boots for a belated Euro 2012 entry, England are divided over who between Andy Carroll and Danny Welbeck should make way for their talisman in his return for tomorrow’s (Singapore time) match against co-hosts Ukraine.

Any mindful manager will pick
Any mindful manager will pick Rooney and Andy, pairing them and drop Danny Welback. If anybody does not agree, they do not know the game of football at all. Sorry for being blunt, I don't mean to be rude but Andy's head is like a sledgehammer with the ball like a bullet into the net. He can jump very high above all the tall defenders. Frankly I think England can only go as far as into the last eight, Germany and Spain are my bets........Ole Ole Ole O!
