From the terminator to governator and now, he is simply known as the cheater.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, 63, has admitted cheating on his wife of 25 years Maria Shriver, 55, and had a baby with their housekeeper.
The former staffer's name has not been revealed, nor that of their child, but it is known that she worked for the Schwarzenegger family for 20 years before retiring in January.
The former governor told The Los Angeles Times: "After leaving the governor's office I told my wife about this event, which occurred over a decade ago.
"I understand and deserve the feelings of anger and disappointment among my friends and family. There are no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused," he said.
"I have apologised to Maria, my children and my family. I am truly sorry."
The Hollywood Life reported that two sources claim Arnold’s mistress is a 50-year-old housekeeper named Mildred Baene, who retired from their household in January. But these claims were not confirmed by the estranged couple.
An apologetic Arnold told the media to target their criticism at him and to leave his family alone.
He said: "I ask that the media respect my wife and children through this extremely difficult time. While I deserve your attention and criticism, my family does not."
Shriver released a statement to People magazine saying: "This is a painful and heartbreaking time. As a mother, my concern is for the children. I ask for compassion, respect and privacy as my children and I try to rebuild our lives and heal."
The 55-year-old made a special appearance on the final episode of Oprah Winfrey's show before the revelations were made public. During the show, Shriver managed to make a slight jab at her cheating husband.
She said to Winfrey: "You have shown love, support, wisdom, and most of all," she said, before a pause, "the truth."
The 57-year-old host reportedly squeezed the former TV journalist's hand as the crowd broke out in applause.
