Pig-nosed turtles, pygmy hedgehogs and iguanas are among the exotic wildlife being cared for at the Acres Wildlife Rescue Centre (AWRC) at Jalan Lekar in Choa Chu Kang.

The New Paper was allowed an exclusive look into the centre's quarantine area where more than 50 animals are cared for by seven workers employed by the Animal Concerns Research and Education Society (Acres).

As it was Halloween on the day of our visit, the staff had planned for some special treats involving pumpkins and "scarecrows" made of twisted grass as a form of "themed enrichment" for the animals.

For more information on how you can help these animals, visit the Acres website.
