Batam getaway ends in tragedy

A LATE night spin after clubbing proved fatal for three friends.

The three men, Mr Rajendran Praveen Nair, Mr Akshayrajesh Vohora, and Mr Saddharti Kamal, all 22, died when their rented Kijang crashed into a parked flatbed truck in Batam on Saturday night.

They checked in at the Swiss-Inn Hotel together with five other friends, who stayed back in the hotel that fateful night.

Locals told The New Paper that the collision happened at an industrial area known as Batu Ampar, and that they believed they had gotten lost as they had little reason to be there.
