MALAYSIAN participants in the Bersih protest on Saturday are claiming that police deliberately hurt protesters.

During a confrontation with Bersih members and their opposition party supporters in Kuala Lumpur, the police are said to have fired tear gas canisters at the crowd, instead of firing them into the air.

One of those allegedly injured by the tear gas canisters was opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim and his bodyguard.
