Almost 16 years after S Anthonysamy suffered a spinal injury that saw him paralysed from the shoulders down, it was wonderful to read of the former footballer's undying spirit in The New Paper on Friday.

Many were delighted to see that his physical condition has not in any way dampened his passion for life. Anthony’s story in TNP also has an unexpected outcome.

Moved by Anthony’s condition and dwindling funds, the general manager of Turkish Airlines (Singapore and Malaysia), Cengiz Inceosman, has generously donated a Manchester United jersey, framed and signed by all the current players, to The New Paper to help raise funds for Anthony.
