Diego Maradona has criticised big-spending Premier League clubs Manchester City and Chelsea, describing their business models as “antiquated”.

The outspoken Argentine legend has slammed the way the two Premier League sides and other high-spending European clubs are run – specifically criticising what he regards as their over-indulgence in the transfer market.

The South American boss of Al Wasl commented in his column for Times of India that the set-up at Bayern Munich offers a more sustainable and admirable approach and highlighted the Bundesliga giants as a blueprint for other sides to follow.

The Argentinian also tipped Bayern to overcome Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals.
