Breaking fast with the expat Muslim community

Eid al-Fitr or Hari Raya Aidilfitri, as it is known here, falls on Sunday.

During the month of Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn till dusk and are required to practise abstinence.

While most Muslims here are of Malay or Indian origin, there is an expat community made up of about 10 groups representing foreign-born Muslims.

Mr Wasim Abdul Majeed’s family (above) is one of more than 500 Pakistani immigrant families living in Singapore.
