Two brothers, aged 70 and 71, share their three-bedroom HDB flat in Jalan Bukit Merah with about 30 cats, which they cannot bear to give up despite the state of their home.
Inside their flat, cat faeces litter the PVC covered floor. Old newspapers, crinkled up from cat urine, are scattered all over. The acrid smell of the urine fills the poorly ventilated flat.
But thanks to a group of animal lovers, the brothers will soon no longer have to live in filth and shoulder the burden of caring for the cats.
