Every morning, Aleksandar Duric wakes up before the sun rises and runs 15km around his Johor Baru neighbourhood.

It’s part of his rigorous fitness regime, his open secret of how at the grand old age of 43, he is still one of the fittest players in the S-League. It is also his idea of leisure.

Perhaps that explains why the Tampines Rovers striker (above) still harbours hopes of playing for yet another season.

The Bosnian-born Singaporean, who retired from international football after winning the AFF Suzuki Cup with the Lions last December, intended to hang up his boots entirely at the end of this year.

He told The New Paper: “I’ve not decided yet, but there is a good chance I might stick with what I know – playing football and scoring goals."
