Hotelier Loh Lik Peng chose to go one-up on previous CEOs who have taken part in the Great CEO Charity Cookout by adding extra spice to the event on Friday night.
The 39-year-old founder and managing director of New Majestic Hotel, Hotel 1929 and Wanderlust in Singapore sweated over a hot wok for two hours on Friday cooking mee goreng at the Food Republic Beer Garden at St James Power Station.
He also offered a sweet deal to customers: spend $20 on a plate of mee goreng for charity, and stand a chance to win a night's stay at a boutique hotel.
Why organise a self-sponsored lucky draw? He chuckled and explained: "I felt that if people were going to pay $20 for a plate of mee goreng, we might as well let them win something in return."
