IT engineer Ponnusamy Selvakumar, 40, had to work for long hours, and by the time he came home, he used to be too tired to spend time with his six-year-old daughter Prathikha.
One night, when he returned home from work, Prathikha asked him: “Why don’t you spend time with me?”
He told The New Paper that her question brought him close to tears and made him realise that he spent too much time on his job.
He has since made an effort to spend more time with her, and on Tuesday (May 1), they took part in the Father-Child Bonding Experiential Camp. The day camp, organised by the Singapore Indian Development Association (Sinda) in collaboration with the Centre for Fathering, is designed to help fathers communicate with their children better.
