It's a tally that no one celebrates -- at least 28 people died at worksites in the first seven months of this year, according to figures provided by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM).

And 5,283 injuries were reported in the same period, an MOM spokesman told The New Paper.

Experts in the construction industry - the biggest culprit in terms of number of fatalities and permanent disablements - say that the Government is taking measures to enhance worksite safety, but more can be done.
