While shooting at the Cold Storage Kids Run in May this year, Mr Liew Tong Leng snapped this picture of parents and their children posing before the start of the race.
The 42-year-old sent it in for this week’s The Big Picture contest because he felt it depicted the theme “Racial Harmony” very well.
“It shows how the different races can come together by having fun,” said Mr Liew, a regulator at the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore who spends his weekends shooting events as a hobby.
The photo won him the $500 prize for this week’s The Big Picture, a year-long contest organised by The New Paper and the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts to encourage Singaporeans to document their city through photographs.
