A DISPUTE arose on Saturday between a patient's family and staff members of Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) - to the point where police were called in.

The family claim the hospital did not adhere to their wishes of keeping the patient, 64-year-old housewife Lee Ah Cheo, on assisted ventilation. She died at 1.30am on Sunday.

However, a KTPH spokesman said that Madam Lee's condition was terminal, allowing doctors to decide to discontinue treatment when further treatment will not improve the patient's condition.
