Within 15 minutes of the dive, he lost sight of his fellow divers. When he could not locate them after searching for half-an-hour, he sought help from the boat crew.
He searched the area with the boat and even dived in the same waters later, but couldn't find them.
Singaporean Lim Kee Pah, 30, who raised the alarm about the six missing divers off Chebeh Island near Tioman, was taking a diving course when the incident happened.
The missing divers were picked up by a passing tugboat the next day.
