Dying without pain

It took palliative care expert Cynthia Goh (above) more than 20 years to push through hospice services in Singapore.

And "no" was a common word everywhere she turned -- for help, finance and a physical building.

But with like-minded medical professionals, philanthropists and volunteers, she pushed her quest through.

Today, there are eight hospices in Singapore treating more than 5,000 people a year.
