Fasting month is rest month

For Malay wedding decorator and planner Nor Tan, the start of the fasting month is a welcome relief.

This is when she gets to replenish and restore equipment used in her trade.

For the rest of the year, she has been scrambling every weekend to beautify dull void decks and multi-purpose halls, transforming them into works of art for wedding engagements.

Madam Tan, 48, says that she and her husband have been doing this for 19 years and it still feels like a rush each time they’re on the job.

The headaches? Couples who want the world but can't pay up later, and occasions when funerals and weddings clash at void decks.
