Fire at kindergarten, four fires in Punggol block

A fire that broke out at Carpe Diem Kids Academy (above) at Watten Park on Bukit Timah Road on Monday morning (Aug 13) shocked residents of the estate.

They reported seeing thick dark smoke and flames shooting out from the building's windows.

Fortunately, no one was hurt, but kindergarten employees were later seen trying to salvage as many items as possible from the school, parts of which were damaged by soot and heat.

Meanwhile, four separate fires broke out at Block 206A, Punggol Place, on Aug 12, between 11pm and 2am.

The fires occurred at the the lift landings and rubbish chute areas of the block, which is a rental block of one- or two-room flats.
