The woman who died last Friday after the Compassvale flat she was in was set on fire had wanted her own family.

But she was unlucky in love, her uncle told The New Paper

Ms Mary Yoong Mei Ling, 43, had been married twice, but both marriages ended in divorce and she had no children.

She had also had a hard life. Her father died before she was a year old and her mother left her with a grand-aunt and moved to another country when Ms Yoong was four years old.

Said Ms Yoong's uncle, Mr Joseph Hsu, 44: "She was a simple woman with a simple dream... Abandoned by her mother at a young age, all she wanted was a family to call her own.”
