SIR Alex Ferguson will be depending on Darren Fletcher to counter Barcelona's free-flowing football in the Champions League final.

The combative midfielder missed out on the 2009 final in Rome, where the Spanish champions outclassed the Red Devils with goals from Samuel Eto'o and Lionel Messi.

With Fletcher making his return to the United first team following a chronic virus, Ferguson feels that his compatriot will plug the holes that were exposed two years ago and is keen to give him game time ahead of the continental showpiece.
