Thanks to a project by Nanyang Junior College students, residents of Block 246, Serangoon Avenue 3, now recognise their neighbours and even greet one another.
This project, part of a community involvement programme led by the South East Community Development Council, saw the 11 students going door to door to explain their project's purpose and take photos of the residents.
They managed to convince 44 families to participate in the project, titled "Neighbourliness".
Posters featuring the families have been put up in the block's two lifts, and will remain there for six weeks.
Resident Andy Wong, 46, said: “We just moved here two months ago and we didn’t know anyone. Since they put up the posters, some neighbours acknowledged us and we also started saying hi to those who were on the posters too."
