Former Singapore Idol finalist Joakim Gomez wants people to forget him as a singer and see him now as a host.

The 24-year-old gets his huge break tomorrow when he hosts the National Day Parade with veterans Gurmit Singh, Suhaimi Yusof, Jean Danker and Sharon Au.

He tells The New Paper how he got the opportunity and how he's been hosting army events as part of his national service.
