Dr Lau Teng Chuan died, aged 83, of stomach cancer.
He was an extraordinary man. One with many talents, all of which came through when he was a highly-respected educationist and top-ranked sports official.
When he breathed his last at the Singapore General Hospital at 5.30pm yesterday, wife Mary and his whole family were at his bedside. Soon afterwards, SMSes and e-mails flew fast among family, friends and the sporting fraternity to inform others that one of Singapore’s best-known sportsmen and officials had died.
