Submitted by Naren K on May 9, 2012 - 12:02am

Dr Lau Teng Chuan died, aged 83, of stomach cancer.

He was an extraordinary man. One with many talents, all of which came through when he was a highly-respected educationist and top-ranked sports official.

Soon afterwards, SMSes and e-mails flew fast among family, friends and the sporting fraternity to inform others that one of Singapore’s best-known sportsmen and officials had died.
