Granny hurt in bus fall

An elderly woman was flung from her seat while onboard SMRT bus service 178 going from Boon Lay Interchange to Woodlands. She knocked her face on a seat and fell to the floor.

A fellow passenger said the bus driver was making a sharp turn when the incident happened at about 4.10pm last Thursday.

Madam Chan Lan Ching (above), 82, suffered a cut on her upper lip, a fracture on her right hand and multiple bruises on her face, neck and chest area. She received 17 stitches at the hospital.

An SMRT spokesman said they visited the victim in hospital and are in contact with her family to offer assistance. SMRT is also investigating the incident.
