HALLOWEEN Horrors, a mega event due to make its return at the Night Safari for the sixth year on Sept 30, has been canned, to the dismay of the crew involved.

This, apparently after almost $1 million had already been spent on the event, which is estimated to rake in about $4m.

When contacted by The New Paper, Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS), which runs Night Safari, said it decided to cancel the event because of the negative feedback from various parties and that it would focus on more family-centric activities.

However, a man, who was involved in the event, said that a member of the senior management gave a different reason to some employees on Tuesday.

"This person said, 'We should not worship the devil. We can be creative and turn the bad for good.'"

When asked about this yesterday, WRS would neither confirm or deny the quote.

I wonder who is this extremist who decided to declare Halloween as devil worship?

It's a festival where people remember and offer prayers for the dead, something like Qing Ming and lunar 7th month.

We should not allow religious extremist like these to corrupt a globally accepted harmless event.
