Food is a subject I hold close to my heart, although usually, I hold it closer to my mouth – only the tasty ones, of course.

But heritage food is the kind that truly tugs at my heartstrings.

In this new series of Hed Chef, I will feature family recipes from the Singapore kitchen, beginning with dishes you can showcase during Chinese New Year.

Today, I will show you how to make my grandmother's Hockchew stir-fried white rice cakes.
