On Monday, former Ministry of Education scholarship holder Jonathan Wong Wai Kheong, 25, was jailed five years for sexual penetration of a minor. He had groomed his victim, who was then 15, and got her to perform demeaning acts.
As a teen, he had been caught and warned for peeping at primary school girls in their toilets.
In 2010, while studying in the UK, he was caught and charged with owning kiddie porn.
So what will happen when Wong is released from prison after he serves his sentence? Can paedophiles like him be reformed?
Medical experts The New Paper spoke to say treatment is almost impossible. But one expressed optimism that if a paedophile takes responsibility for his actions, he may be able to control himself.

It's Hopson's choice. If we don't give him another chance, we are heartless. If we give him another chance, we fear he may reoffend as he had done in the past. What to do now? One solution: jail him until his "brother" cannot wake up anymore or give him something to take to make the "brother" sleep forever but opponents of such a move will say he will have no descendants. So what now? Perhaps room him to be a professional giggolo where he can have the best of both worlds? Occupation: Duck.
