Death came for cabby Foo Ching Fwee when he was helping a passenger.
The 72-year-old taxi driver was killed in a hit-and-run accident in August last year when he stopped his car on the shoulder of an expressway to get a plastic bag from the boot for a passenger who was feeling ill.
At 1.20am, Yeo Yee Kuan (above), 30, who was on his way home after a drink at St James Power Station, nodded off at the wheel and drove into Mr Foo.
The permanent resident was sentenced to six weeks' jail and fined $7,000 for his negligence in causing the death of Mr Foo and failing to stop his car to render assistance.
