When Mr Ng Yi Yong, (above, right) 31, was diagnosed with lymphoma six years back, he went through chemotherapy, but the cancer cells did not shrink and he knew he needed a bone marrow transplant.
Thanks to the Bone Marrow Donor Programme (BMDP), he managed to find a donor who was suitable and willing to donate.
Till today, Mr Ng does not know who the donor is, except that she's from Taiwan. He wishes to meet her and thank her personally. "I will really bow to her... It’s a gift of life that she gave to me."
The BMDP now has 50,000 people in the registry and hopes to get 5,000 new sign-ups this year.
