'Ice' a popular choice among new drug abusers

One saw his friendship with old friends break off after their constant abuse of drugs to supplement their clubbing nights.

Another saw her marriage end in divorce after her husband resorted to his old habit of smoking Ice even after his release from prison and she was pregnant with their second child.

Their stories highlight the increasing use of methamphetamines, especially Ice, among new abusers.

The statistics for the synthetic drug are alarming, with more than 1,000 methamphetamine abusers arrested last year.

This was a 60 per cent increase from the 700 arrested the year before.
