Initiatives help develop, inspire staff

In March, the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports announced new initiatives to retain and attract people to the social service sector.

These initiatives have allowed organisations like the Asian Women's Welfare Association (Awwa) to put in place human resource practices to develop and inspire its staff.

One staff member who has benefited from these opportunities is Ms Sandra Tan, assistant director of TM Integration Services at Awwa.

She said that the heart of her work is helping children and youth with physical disabilities who attend mainstream schools and that she hoped to inspire more people to join the profession.
