Pixar has made some great movies about, among others, toys, fish and robots, but the award-winning US computer animation film studio has never made a movie with a female lead.
That changes with their 13th feature film, Brave, which sees Scottish actress Kelly Macdonald voicing Princess Merida, a flame-haired archer who flees an arranged marriage to forge her own destiny.
“Merida is earthier than the other princesses, I like to think. There’s no singing or searching for her prince,” Macdonald told The New Paper by phone from Los Angeles.
