Jiawei's Double delight

Along with Singapore, paddler Li Jiawei will be celebrating her birthday tomorrow.

The four-time Olympian, who will turn 31, gave herself and her country an early birthday present yesterday evening (Singapore time) when she helped the women’s team score two points in their 3-0 mauling of South Korea in the bronze medal tie at the ExCeL Arena.

Li, Feng Tianwei and Wang Yuegu came into the tie on the back of a comprehensive 3-0 defeat by Japan in the semi-final, after which they were visibly upset and hardly spoke to reporters.

But yesterday, they bounced back with a bang, with everything falling into place.
