From kidney receiver to volunteer

While doing housework one day, she got a phone call that changed her life.

She was given only five minutes to decide whether to accept a kidney from a brain-dead donor.

Former kidney dialysis patient June Yew, 55, grabbed the opportunity. Her kidneys had failed completely when she was 37.

The retired statistical assistant has now become a volunteer with the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) and helps out in its Grains of Hope programme.
