Lawyers on driver who killed pedestrian: She didn't get off lightly

She did not have a driving licence. Candy Siow Pei Shan, 23, also admitted to having downed copious amounts of alcohol beforehand.

Then, she drove a car and killed a 70-year-old pedestrian who was standing on the pavement waiting to cross the road.

After the accident, which took place in February last year, Siow was sentenced to four months’ jail and banned from driving for 10 years.

But netizens say it’s not enough. They argue she should have been jailed for a longer time for taking a life.

Lawyers, however, told The New Paper that Siow did not get away lightly.
