They lost in last year's General Election (GE), but both have seen the positive side of defeat.

Former Member of Parliament (MP) Cynthia Phua regrets losing in Aljunied GRC. But she is also thankful as victory over the Workers’ Party would have meant her not having time to be at her father’s side in his final days.

As for Non-Constituency MP Lina Chiam, she feels no pressure to live up to the legacy of her husband, opposition veteran Chiam See Tong.

Mrs Chiam says her husband's 27-year stint in Parliament as Potong Pasir MP gives her a treasure trove of information to tap on, as she continues to focus on issues like CPF, health care and the economy in Parliament.
