Malaysia bombs Filipino insurgents in Sabah - but they claim to have escaped unhurt

March 6, 2013 - 1:12am

Malaysian fighter jets bombed Kampung Tanduo in Sabah on Tuesday morning as part of an attack on the more than 100 Filipino insurgents who had entered Malaysian territory three weeks ago to reclaim Sabah for the so-called Sultan of Sulu.

The men had refused to budge despite negotiations and several skirmishes that left eight Malaysian police officers and 19 Filipino insurgents dead.

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said he had no choice but to unleash the military to end Malaysia’s biggest security crisis in years.

But a spokesman for the so-called sultan said that his men had survived the onslaught by the Malaysian military.
