HE USED to enjoy grooming himself and snapping his own photos with his mobile phone.

But Mr Kee Yau Chong, 23, can barely look himself in the mirror now.

The Malaysian's life was changed completely after his colleague, Kuu Siau Lam, set him ablaze following an altercation over an accidental bump at their workplace, leaving Mr Kee with burns on his arms and body. Kuu was jailed four years for his act.

Mr Kee said that Kuu will be out in four years, he has become a shadow of his former self, resigned to his horrific injuries.

My heart aches when people are so abusively vengeful and does such hateful things like setting another fellow on fire after just a bump.

Granted, the guy who bumped you did not say sorry, and when confronted, no one really knows what words were exchanged...

but to deliberaely pour thinner on him and set him on fire... ruins his body permenantly, if not killing him...

for such an act to get off with 4 years' jail, it teaches society in Sgp what to do to "in the heat of the moment" against their bosses, colleagues who are a royal pain in the rear, etc... crime does pay in this case doesn't it?

In four years, the guy who did such an act is a free man (ok, in Sgp... yellow ribbon, etc... free as a technical term... not a reality term, but nevertheless, generally "clean" in the eyes of the law - having 'paid' for his 'crime' with time served.  Free food and lodging and even health care! ... not bad if single and not doing well outside.

yeah... no cane? too old?  wow... we can also learn from this... wait till you are old enough, and you can have your 'revenge'... 10 years not late if you understand the Chinese saying... "A gentleman who plots revenge, 10 years is not too long to wait"

Sometimes, an eye for an eye is a good way to punish such irresponsible people.

OK other side of the coin... what were the words really used in the ensuing exchange that drove that guy to do what he did?  Some words, at the right time and at the right person... can cut worse than a chainsaw...  did he 'ask for it'?

Would a simple 'SORRY' said loudly and sincerely, have prevented all this unnecessary waste of taxpayer's money to prosecute and incarcerate that person for 1,460 days?

I say an eye for an eye is faster, and more instant justice in this case.
