Man sells tall tale for $880k

Over a period of more than two years, a 46-year-old IT consultant gave Lee Chee Heng (above), whom he believed was a lawyer with an established law firm, almost $880,000.

Lee, 37, lied to the man that he had a 30th-storey unit at The Sail for sale.

He also told his victim that he could buy the unit for about $900,000 and sell it for a profit. The duped victim wiped out his savings and took loans to buy the imaginary condo unit.

Lee was jailed for seven-and-a-half years on 24 charges of cheating yesterday (July 27).
